HYDERABAD, June 24: Adviser to Sindh chief minister for local bodies, katchi abadis and spatial development Wasim Akhtar has said that the Sindh local government commission has forwarded two references against the city district government Karachi (CDGK) to the National Accountability Bureau.

He was talking to journalists after attending a briefing on the Hyderabad development package at the circuit house on Thursday night.

“Two references have been forwarded to the NAB by the SLGC against Karachi City Nazim Naimatullah Khan while cases of malpractices have been sent to the anti-corruption establishment against 10 nazims of local governments”, he said.

He said of Rs1 billion of special projects, Rs71 million had been released for execution of works.

“Funds are not problem but development works must be executed for welfare of people”, he said.

He said a notification regarding new delimitation in newly-created districts and talukas would be issued on Friday.

He said the project director of the Hyderabad development package would be appointed within a week.

He said the Sindh chief secretary would appoint administrators in place of District Nazims and Taluka Nazims as soon as election schedule of the next local bodies elections was announced.

He said DCOs and TMOs would replace elected representatives and denied that the people having political affiliation would be appointed administrators.
