LAHORE: Former Test fast bowler Sarfraz Nawaz has asked his former pace bowling partner, Prime Minister Imran Khan to take notice of a recent move by his appointee, Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Ehsan Mani, of finalising the name of a British national for the post of Managing Director of the Cricket Board.

Talking to Dawn, Sarfraz said that Dr. Wasim Shah, a British national, has been interviewed by the PCB for the key post and is the most favourite candidate for the job.

Sarfraz lamented that the PCB has been hiring officials on the basis of friendship and without any merit and asked Imran to check the practice.

He said though Wasim had the experience of holding a key management post with an English county, he had no knowledge about the problems and issues confronting Pakistan cricket. He contended that the post be given to a competent Pakistani national.

Sarfraz also appealed to Chief Justice of Pakistan, Saqib Nisar to take notice of the appointment of Wasim Akram in the PCB’s cricket committee despite the fact the former fast bowler had been penalized by one-man judicial commission of Justice (retd.) Abdul Qayyum in a match-fixing scam back in the 1990s.
