SIALKOT, June 23: A delegation of parliamentarians from the area which met the Punjab chief minister a few days back in Lahore has claimed that Mr Elahi has taken notice of the announcement of a candidates’ panel by the district nazim ahead of local polls. The delegation comprising Punjab Labour and Human Resources Minister Syed Akhtar Husain Rizvi, Industries and Investment Minister Muhammad Ajmal Cheema, Power Minister Armughan Subhani, besides Tehsil Nazim Akmal Cheema and Punjab Public Accounts Committee chairman Azeem Noori Ghuman told Mr Elahi that the district nazim violated the party discipline by nominating his own panel.

They said the chief minister was informed that the unilateral approach of District Nazim Mian Naeem Javed had caused divisions in the party’s organization, besides neutralizing the unifying efforts of Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain.

The delegation urged the chief minister to order a high-level probe into the matter and take disciplinary action against the district nazim.

Mr Akhtar Rizvi and Mr Ajmal Cheema told the journalists that the chief minister expressed dismay over the existing political scenario and division of PML in the district.
