BUNER: Central chairman of Awami Workers Party Fanoos Gujjar, who had passed away on Saturday evening, was laid to rest at his ancestral graveyard in Riyal village of Chaghorzai tehsil here on Sunday.

Thousands of people and party workers from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, Balochistan and Sindh, participated in the funeral prayers.

Officials of the district administration, police, elected representatives, social and political activists from different parts of the province turned up in large numbers to attend the funeral.

Late Fanoos Gujjar left behind two widows.

During his school life, Fanoos Gujjar was associated with progressive politics and became president of National Students Federation.

Fanoos Gujjar had formed many progressive and revolutionary parties and remained part and parcel of movements against dictators.

During the last five years of his life, he finally succeeded to unite all of small leftist parties on a single platform and formed the Awami Workers Party.
