KARACHI, June 23: The personality of Imam Ahmed Raza was very versatile and multi-faceted and the focus of his life was promotion of Islamic teachings and understanding of the religion. This was stated by the Vice-Chancellor of Karachi University, Prof Dr Pirzada Qasim Raza Siddiqui. He was speaking as chief guest at a ceremony held under the auspices of the Idara Tehqiqat Imam Ahmed Raza International at Karachi University campus. At the ceremony, publications in Urdu, Arabic and Persian were distributed to departmental libraries and Dr Mahmood Hussain Library of Karachi University.

The Vice-Chancellor praised the exceptional abilities and capabilities of Imam Ahmed Raza.

He said Imam Ahmed Raza devoted himself to the service of the Islamic disciplines.

Prof. Siddiqui pointed out that the number of the publications of Imam Ahmed Raza was about 550 while some 800 are awaiting print.

He said Imam Ahmed Raza was an expert of Arabic, Persian, Urdu and contemporary studies.

The Vice-Chancellor said that Imam Ahmed Raza was a true devotee of the Holy Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him) and that this becomes obvious from his ‘Naatia poetry’.

He said that with his publications at Karachi University, our students would also benefit greatly.

Prof Siddiqui stated that 11 students have completed Ph.D. degrees on the life and works of Imam Ahmed Raza from various universities of India while nine students from Pakistani universities have also completed their PhDs.

He further pointed out that a number of students are also enrolled at Calcutta and Banaras. — APP
