Restructuring FST

Published November 28, 2018

APROPOS the report ‘Govt plans to empower FST to hear appeals’ (Nov 18). The decision to empower the Federal Service Tribunal to hear appeals against unjust orders and adjudicate upon service/ pension matters of serving and retired persons of corporations, autonomous and semi-autonomous organisations will give speedy justice and mitigate their grievances.

The employees of Port Qasim Authority are still awaiting the implementation of government orders regarding the payment of arrears of the commuted part of pension upon the expiry of the commuted period vide Finance Division (Regulations Wing) O.M. No. F.3(13)-Reg.6/2011 dated 21.01. 2013 and of even No. dated 11.03.2013 issued in compliance with a FST judgment dated 05.01.2012.

The FST decision was also upheld by the Supreme Court of Pakistan vide its order dated 24.04.2012.

I wish the PQA employees God speed in light of the above.
