Rs5m PTCL equipment stolen

GUJRAT, June 22: Some unidentified gangsters took away equipment and wire worth Rs5 million from the Karsal exchange, Sohawa (Jhelum) on Monday night, rendering 1,000 phones ‘dead.’

Jhelum police have registered a case and arrested the exchange watchman. Earlier, gangsters had looted over 10 exchanges and PTCL development stores in Gujrat, Gujranwala, Chakwal and Rawalpindi during the last eight months. The PTCL had to incur a loss of over Rs75 million because of the robbery and theft incidents.

REMAND EXTENDED: An area magistrate has extended for another day the physical remand of Kharian former tehsil nazim Nadeem Asghar Kaira in an abduction case.

Baghbanpura police had registered a case on June 13 against him and four other accused on charges of abducting one Shah Nawaz. The police had arrested Mr Kaira on June 14.
