A life dedicated to dawah

Haji Abdul Wahab was born in the suburban area of Delhi, India, in January 1923. He graduated from Islamia College, Lahore, and joined the civil service as a Tehsildar in pre-partition India. He also remained affiliated with Majlis-i-Ahrar-i-Islam in his youth.

After being inspired by the oration of Maulana Ilyas Kandhlawi, the founder of Tableeghi Jamaat, Haji Wahab went on to become an Islamic preacher after joining the Jamaat in 1944 and decided to spend his whole life in religious preaching and remained with Maulana Ilyas till his death.

He migrated to Pakistan after 1947 along with a few other companions and founded Madrassa Arabia near Raiwind railway junction. He also left his job later to ensure his active participation in the Tableeghi Jamaat.

Haji Wahab was stated to be a direct companion of Maulana Ilyas and one of the five people who rendered their entire life for Tableeghi Jamaat following the creation of Pakistan.

Haji Wahab succeeded Haji Muhammad Bashir as the emir of Tableeghi Jamaat, in 1992. He remained the head of Shura (council) as well as a member of the movement's Aalmi Shura (World Council) based in Delhi, India.
