MANSEHRA: PTI MPA Nawabzada Fareed has said the residential quarters of the Oghi tehsil headquarters hospital will be retrieved from illegal occupants for allotment to doctors and other staff members.

During a visit to the hospital on Thursday, the lawmaker asked acting medical superintendent Azra Shaheen to serve notices on illegal occupants to vacate residential quarters voluntarily.

“If the occupants don’t comply with the notices,then the law will take its course. They all will be evicted before the residential quarters are allotted them to doctors and the hospital’s staff members. Mr Fareed said the PTI government was committed to providing better health care to the people on their doorstep and wouldn’t tolerate any hurdle in that respect.

MPA promises filling of vacancies

He promised the early appointment of a BPS-19 officer to the hospital as medical superintendent. “All vacancies will be filled, while the services falling in the domain of a hospital of category D will soon be provided here for better patient care,” he said.

The acting MS told the lawmaker that the posts of medical specialist, surgeon and heart specialist had long been lying vacant.

She also said the laboratories and X-ray units weren’t fully functional due to the shortage of staff, equipment and machineries.

RECRUITS JOIN POLICE: Around 200recruits from various districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa joined the police department on the completion of training here on Thursday.

They exhibited their skills, especially of handling arms and ammunition, at the passing-out parade ceremony here.

Among others, the ceremony was attended by deputy inspector general of police, Hazara division, Mohammad Alam Shinwari and superintendent of police Arif Javed.

The recruits hailed from Mansehra, Mardan, Kohat and Bannu presented a guard of honour to Mr Shinwari. “We are proud of the sacrifices rendered by the police against militancy. Now as you are part of the force, I hope that you’ll do their duty diligently,” the DIG said.

He said the police’s basic duty was to protect public life and property. Later, shields, swards and certificates were given away to the recruits with good performance.

DDAC GETS CHIEF: The government on Thursday appointed Awami National Party MPA Laiq Mohammad Khan the chairman of the district development advisory committee from Torghar. The committee plans and executes the annual development programme through civic agencies.
