KARACHI, June 21: A general-manager of the Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) was shot at and wounded twice by unknown suspects in Defence Housing Authority on Tuesday morning. The incident occurred at 8:30am, police said. Police said PPL’s GM (Human Resources) Mohammad Iftikhar Mukhtar was heading to work from his Phase IV residence when his car was intercepted by a brown coloured car at the intersection of Khayaban-i-Bhukhari and Mohafiz.

TPO Clifton Imran Shaukat told Dawn that after blocking the car, the suspects alighted from their car. One of them knocked at the window of the driver, Mohammad Khalid, and took out keys of the car.

Another suspect opened the door where Mr Mukhtar was sitting, as he tried to step out of the car, the suspect shot at him twice and sped away in the same car in which they had come.

The victim was rushed to Aga Khan Hospital where after treatment he was stated to be in a stable condition.

DIG Investigation Manzoor Mughal told Dawn that the police have started investigation into the incident. He said the suspects were well dressed according to the driver and victim.

They also didn’t take away any valuables while fleeing from the spot, the DIG added.

A few months back, a senior official of a biscuit company was shot dead outside his house in DHA. Offices of both the companies whose officials were attacked are located at the first floor of the PIDC House, said a senior police official.
