KARACHI: Music Day celebrated

KARACHI, June 21: On the occasion of the International Music Day, a performance of the Eastern classical music was arranged at the Alliance Francaise. The consul-general of France in Karachi, Jean Yves Berthault, inaugurated the event. As many as five students of the ustads of classical music enthralled the audience. In his address, Mr Berthault spoke of the passion of the people of France for music. He pointed out that there are millions of musicians in France and these included the amateur ones.

He also spoke of the contribution of the French people towards the observance of the International Music Day on June 21.

The consul-general said that the International Music Day was marked in France and other parts of Europe in a very big way. He said he believed that the celebration of music was the celebration of the human feelings.

Berthault said that at the International Music Day ceremony at the Alliance the youngsters studying classical music in the part of the world would perform. Later, Ghulam Qadir, Raees Khan, Faisal Aziz, Turab Ali and Intizar Hussain enthralled the audience with their performance. —APP
