Army win 15 gold medals

ISLAMABAD: Army maintained their supremacy with 15 gold medals in the senior poomsae competition during the ongoing 13th Korean Ambassador National Taekwondo Championship on Monday.

Wapda were on second position with five sliver and eight bronze medals followed by HEC, whose athletes won four silver and six bronze in various contest of poomsae events.

Air Force’s athletes also showed good performance as they bagged one gold, two silver and two bronze medals.

Waseem Javed, Shahbaz Ahmed, Ghulam Abbas, Arif Manzoor, Mumtaz, Sharjeel, Shahbaz, Aleena, M Khan, Ghananfar, Usman, Mudasir, Mohammad Ibrar, Naqash Hamdani, Mehrun Nisa, Zainab and Mehru won medals for Army.

The lone gold medal for Air Force was clinched by Shahzad Ali, who won in the creative poomsea individual event.

For Wapda, Hashim, Rajaz Ayub, Umair Saleem, Khalid Saeed, Ghuffran, Sumaira, Umair, M Naeem, Nabeel and Azeem were the medal winners.

For HEC, Inam, Mohammad Anas, Waqas Mahmood, Anamta, Shahid Malik, Flower Zaheer, Ishma won medals.

The week-long event, featuring around 1400 athletes and officials, is being held here at the Liaquat Gymnasium Hall of Pakistan Sports Complex.
