Pakistan defeated New Zealand by 47 runs in the third and final Twenty20 international in Dubai on Sunday to claim another clean-sweep in the game's shortest format.

Pakistan were lifted to 166-3 by Babar Azam who made a 58-ball 79 with seven boundaries and two sixes while Mohammad Hafeez hit a 34-ball 53 with four boundaries and two sixes.

When on 48, Azam became the quickest to score 1,000 Twenty20 runs in just 26 innings beating India's Virat Kohli's record by an innings.

Leg-spinner Shadab Khan took 3-30 as New Zealand were bundled out for 119 in 16.5 overs. Pakistan won the first match in Abu Dhabi by two runs and the second by six wickets in Dubai.

The men-in-green had rested pacers Shaheen Afridi and Hasan Ali, and handed a debut to Waqas Maqsood — that too on his 31st birthday.

3-0 to Pakistan. Very well done. Keep it up and keep doing the hard work. I hope they improve in ODI’s and Test cricket too. Love the way Sarfaraz captained throughout the series. I hope the criticism is laid to rest, at least for the T20’s.

Congrats from acrossthe border. Supporters note its pretty much the same team you were berating a month ago. Point is, win and losses are part of it and critics should be rational. This same team tomorrow in different conditions against different opponents may not do so well, but by both reactions you are making their job much harder. Look forward to more India Pak games! In T20 games even countries like Hong Kong, Bangladesh and Afganistan can win. It's not a real cricket. But 3-0 against NZ is convincing and congrats to Pakistan.Hope they can do better in ODI games.

That is why Pakistan is number 1 in T-20. Amazing performance. Good job with the captaincy. Even through Shadab and Waqar were expensive in their initial overs Sarfraz had full confidence in them and they took wickets in their latter overs. Pakistan team did not panic when Williamson was playing excellent. Sarfraz does not have to bat for the team to have a score over 160 runs. Look forward to the ODIs. Thank you for entertaining us. T20 Format is street cricket. Our player are grown like that playing street cricket. ODI and Test are the real challenge. Can they win against Bangladesh, India, Sri Lanka in the WC 2019 under pressure?

@amir, dude chill. No Pakistan captain has it easy. Was Misbah from Karachi? Was Azhar Ali from Karachi? Was Waqar from Karachi? Was the great Wasim from Karachi? Was Younis Khan from Karachi, or moin Khan? Any captain has had difficulties. Its not just Sarfraz. Stick to the topic.

@AP: How about ODI Championship trophy ... was that fluke too? ... You should admit that Pakistan is not giving superb performance ONLY in T20I but Pakistan recent ODI performance is superb too. In test, under Sarfraz captaincy, team won 2 out of 5, still a lot of improvement is needed, and with time, their performance would start showing in Test too (sooner than later). Though for brief period in 2016, Pakistan was number 1 in Test ranking, it deteriorated to number 6 spot in 2017 just before Misbah retired. Has not improved since than (played 5 test, won 2 and lost 3), but has improved considerably in ODI (is now 5th from 8th position under Azhar in 2017) and is now ranked 1 in T20I (from 7th position under Afridi in 2016). We can hope that Pakistan would also improve in test ranking and would further improve in ODI ranking.
