KARACHI, June 19: Sindh Home Minister Rauf Siddiqi has said that about one million people of Lyari Town will soon be rid of criminal elements and drug traffickers. He was speaking at an open kutchery, held to review the performance of law enforcing agencies during the last three months, in Jahanabad area on Saturday evening.

Area people informed him about heinous accounts of persecution of people carried out by gangs of Rehman dakait and Arshad Pappu.

The minister declared that the dacoits would not be spared at any cost. He appealed to the people to extend full cooperation to police and Rangers in their joint operations being carried out against the criminals.

On the occasion, Rauf Siddiqi handed over the possession of eight houses to their original occupants who were dislodged by the gang of Arshad Pappu. He told the people that work on uplift schemes under the governor’s package was in progress.—APP
