LAHORE: Syed Ahmad Saeed Kirmani, the Provincial Minister for Information and Finance, said here yesterday [Oct 24] that educational bodies like Anjuman-i-Himayat-i-Islam could play “a vital role in promoting the cause of education at the present age of advancement when there was great need for educated and technically qualified personnel”. He was addressing the “Parents’ Day” gathering at the Islamia College grounds.

Appreciating “the role played by Anjuman-i-Himayat-i-Islam in educating Muslim students and promoting the Pakistan Movement”, Mr Kirmani observed that the educational institutions set up by the Anjuman produced great scholars and fighters who fought for Pakistan. He said dignitaries like Allama Iqbal, Maulana Zafar Ali Khan and the Quaid-i-Azam spoke from the platform of Anjuman-i-Himayat-i-Islam and rallied the downtrodden Muslims to wage the struggle for Pakistan. He said that Anjuman-i-Himayat-i-Islam, originally established by some spirited Muslims, had expanded its activities with the passage of time and has now grown into a big organisation .... — Agency
