ISLAMABAD, June 17: The national hockey camp in preparation for two international tournaments will be held at Army Stadium from July 1, it was learnt on Friday. Pakistan will compete in a 4-nation tournament at Hamburg (Germany) and then in an 8-nation tournament at Amstelveen (Holland) — both events to be held in August.

After the July 1-13 camp, which will primarily be fitness-cum- training programme, there will be second leg of the camp at the same venue early in August.

Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) has still to announce the list of 35-odd trainees for the first leg of the camp, to be supervised by chief coach Tahir Zaman.

Pakistan will compete in the four-nation invitational hockey tournament being held in the German city of Hamburg from Aug 12 to 14.

The other participating teams of this single-league tournament will be Australia, Germany and Holland.

Pakistan will then also figure in the eight-nation invitational tournament at Amstelveen being staged from Aug 14 to 21.

Besides Pakistan, the other participating teams in this tournament will be Australia, Germany, Holland, India, South Korea, Spain and England.—APP
