Nadra begins accepting applications for Naya Pakistan Housing Programme

The National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) on Monday opened its doors to citizens applying for a house under the first phase of the Naya Pakistan Housing Programme (NPHP) initiated by the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf government, DawnNewsTV reported.
So far, Nadra is accepting forms at select centres in seven districts: Sukkur, Quetta, Gilgit, Muzaffarabad, Swat, Islamabad and Faisalabad.
According to Nadra's website, candidates can submit forms until Dec 21. The centres where forms can be submitted will be open on Saturday and Sunday as well.
Candidates will be required to submit Rs250 along with the form, and can also submit a photocopy of the form, provided that they have provided "complete and clear information".
Only one person per family will be eligible to apply for the scheme, and preference will be given to candidates who do not own property in Pakistan.
The initiative was launched by Prime Minister Imran Khan earlier this month where he had announced that five million affordable houses would be constructed over a period of five years for low-income segments of society.
He had disclosed that a 60-day pilot project would commence from today in coordination with Nadra in seven districts to assess the demand and payment capacity for affordable houses.
PM Khan had said that the housing programme would bring long-due prosperity to the country, adding that at least 40 other industries connecting to the housing industry would be set in motion as soon as construction for the project started in urban as well as rural areas.
"The target of this [plan] is the common man, who could not even think about owning a house," he had said.

It's a shame that NARDA does not not have capable , professional people attending to their web site......if a query is made or a correction required it gets bogged down and frustrations bureaucratic procedures come into play. If this scheme has to follow nation it must be handled with the intention of getting the work done and not the reverse.

Without a fee many bogus applications will be filed and it will create unnecessary burden on the finances.

But set up the back up system, that is companies constructing dont build poor quality substandard homes , their performance must be monitored closely. Let no scam touch this scheme and mafia not get involved. Barring selling these houses for 5 years after possession to avoid flipping, that is buying to sell.

@boo The people should support PTI, 1) they are making policies to help the poor, never done before 2) trying to get Us out of economic mess the past governments have put us in 3) clean up the corrupt from the top, so the lower levels are cleaned as well which deal with the public directly 4) resetting contracts with foreign governments to ensure Pakistan benefits most not a few politicians who line their pockets as done by previous governments 5) rebuilding foreign ties after we were left without FM for last 5 years 6) plan to repay debt of nation 7) build dams and infrastructure 8) human development so workers can find jobs and go anroad with skills 9) better education system with better level playing field and opportunities 10)Stopping the wanton killings by India in IOK and its resolution 11) bringing peace in Afghanistan 12) connecting to central asia and Iran. 14) playing a role to bring peace in muslim world and between Iran and Saudi 15) help other nation if we can.

On the one hand, the government is doing a commendable job of constructing new houses, but on the other, in many smaller cities people's houses are being demolished to 'widen' the roads citing the old rule that you cannot build a house within a distance of 220 feet from the road. Now this 220-feet rule did apply to the houses near national highways, but the municipal bye-laws were not under this rule and different cities had different rules which allowed houses much closer to the city roads which the government is now destroying and with it people's whole life earnings. The government must restrain the city officials from using the 220-feet rule within cities but must carry out operations against illegal encroachments.

Another ill conceived plan which is bound to fail. Real estate is all about location. DHA, Bahria Town and almost all developers in Pakistan along with this Prime Minister's program does not answer some basic questions of investing i.e. what is the location? What would be the quality, design and other details? When houses will be delivered? What if they are not delivered at all? What if they are not delivered on time? How government will ensure quality is right? What rights investors have? Any representation of investors in decision making? Zero homework, nothing answered and PM sahib started collecting money. It will haunt him for ever.

The statistics are against the success of the scheme and then there is the u-turnism of the present govt. Neverthrless, I sincerely hope that PTI get at least some of the homes built.
They have already squeezed the poor of the country to the limit by raising taxes and ushering in price-hikes of record proportions. This Scheme is also not for the poor but middle class as poor cannot afford to buy these houses since payments must be made to the banks with interest. These are not free homes.

Why the fee is being charged for low income scheme... A simple approach will be no fee and requirement to provide NTN. Every new applicant should be granted a NTN if they dont have one. It will minimize fraud and increase documentation.

I hope there is no deposit along with these applications. Knowing Pakistan and it's governing record and its present financial condition, the poor people who apply may certainly lose their deposited amount and really most likely never get to see these homes.

if total applications are 50k. it becomes 12 crore. 12 Crore is a lot of money for processing charges. There is no limit for total applications.

Current government doesn’t have enough money to run the business affairs. Investment is getting declined due to increase in interest rates. Inflation is going to mount in very soon due to factor input cost price hike. Starting to increase government expenditures in the form of so called cheap housing would crowd out the already meager amount of tax collection. I predict it will be either highly costly or the government will very soon take a big U Turn on it. Note: please analyze the situation after dropping off the spectacles of favoritism or IK charisma because economy has its own models and indicators.

Ensuring quality of construction would be a big challenge for the supervisors of the project.
The housing taskforce should think about trained human resource required to undertake the job and take appropriate steps to fill any gaps.
Unskilled and untrained masons/mistries in the possession of Tesi/Kandi (bulider's hammer and trowel) used to build sewage channels (naalian) in the streets, untrained plumbers and electricians and substandard building materials with disproportionate use of sand/rait would be disasters for the project.
Termite risk factors should be taken into account when selecting material for the doors and windows.
Building materials including plumbing pipes should go through quality control tests before being selected for use in the project. Different coloured plastic pipes should be used for Gas (yellow) and water (green) to ensure health and safety.
Houses should be built at the right level from the streets ensuring disabled access.

Glad that how people are using common sense to calculate the processing charges. Do you even consider putting some sense on it’s delivery timelines ? How it’s gonna be built and quality etc. Or is it just a better form of a kachi abadi? Since 5 Million is a big number and an average house takes 1 year to build ( If very fast). Wish you all common sense :)

How do they intend to ensure that the common man is applying for a house, those who cannot even think of owning a house? Is there any criteria to gauge that? Without any check, it will probably be the affluent and rich, or their children, who will apply and will get to own these houses again.
