HYDERABAD, June 16: On the call of the provincial leadership of the People’s Party Parliamentarians, party activists brought out processions and held demonstrations in different parts of the interior Sindh on Thursday to protest the arrest of PPP MPA Zahid Bhurgari. During the protests, party leaders criticized the Sindh government as well as the Sindh chief minister for what they termed victimization of PPP legislators across the province.
In Hyderabad, a large number of activists of the youth and ladies wings of the party staged a sit-in outside the press club for three hours and raised slogans against the Sindh chief minister. On way to the pres club, some activists pelted stones at shops and passing vehicles.
Speaking to the protesters, local leaders condemned the arrest of Mr Bhurgari, terming registration of a bomb blast case against him worst example of victimization.
They called upon the democratic forces of the country to join hands with the PPP for restoration of democracy in the country.
NAUSHAHRO FEROZE: PPP activists took out a procession here to protest against the arrest of MPA Zahid Bhurgari.
Led by PPP taluka president Ahmed Sharif Gabol and others, workers took out a procession to the press club.
Alleging that Mr Bhurgari was implicated in a false case, the protesters demanded that he be released without delay.
A procession was also taken out in Moro.
MITHI: Activists took out a procession here to protest against what they called political victimization of the workers of PPP as well as other parties in Sindh.
Led by PPP Tharparkar president Dr Mahesh Kumar Malani, the protesters observed a token hunger strike outside the press club.
Dr Malani alleged that the Sindh chief minister was apparently frightened of the political strength of the PPP; therefore, his government had started victimizing party workers by implicating them in fake cases.
The protesters demanded that cases registered against Mr Bhurgari, Jam Saqi, Mohanlal, Arbab Murad Ali and Mohammad Khan Lund be withdrawn.
MIRPURKHAS: PPP office bearers and workers, including women, observed a token hunger strike at the Office Chowk here to protest against the arrest of MPA Zahid Bhurgari and what they called victimization of MPAs Shamim Aara Panhwar and Farheen Mughal.
Protest leaders alleged that instead of controlling price hike, unemployment and lawlessness, the Sindh government was committing excesses against its opponents.
