The mother and son facing off in the PP-272 by-polls.

In Muzaffargarh's PP-272 constituency, a mother and her son are contesting the by-elections against one another, DawnNewsTV reported.

Syed Haroon Ahmed Sultan is contesting as an independent candidate against his mother Zahara Batool, who is a Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) candidate.

Interestingly, Sultan previously ran for the July 25 general elections as an opponent against his brother and sister-in-law.

A total of five contestants are running from PP-272, none of whom belong to the Punjab-dominant PML-N, thereby making for a close competition between the mother and the son.

A total of 166,247 voters are expected to cast their vote in the constituency where 134 polling stations have been set up for the purpose.
