ISLAMABAD, June 15: Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) has started training camps in eight different disciplines for the 4th Women Islamic Games scheduled to be held in Tehran from Sept 22 to 28 this year. Five of these women training camps have been set up at Pakistan Sports Complex in the disciplines of athletics, badminton, swimming, squash and taekwondo.

The judo and karate camps are in progress at Lahore and the shooting camp at Karachi whie tennis, golf and table tennis camps will commence shortly.

To train the lady swimmers, PSB, with the cooperation of Chinese Embassy in Islamabad, has acquired the services of a high-ranking Chinese female coach Ms. Liu Jiyun.

At present, 13 girls are undergoing training in a covered swimming pool at Islamabad. However, PSB has invited girls who are under 18 years of age having sound physical fitness to report to PSB for trials by the 25th June 2005 at thelatest, after which no one will be entertained.

The “intended girls” will appear in the trials at their own expenses, says a PSB intimation, adding in case any girl is “found suitable for further training she will be inducted into the national training camp for further training.”
