Narrow wins for Pak PWD, Navy

KARACHI, June 15: Pak PWD and Navy scored narrow victories to earn maximum points in the National Challenge Cup football on Wednesday.

A second half strike in the 55th minute by Basharat Ali gave Navy 1-0 victory over a game Mauripur Baloch.

In a match of fluctuating fortunes Pak PWD overcame CDGK 3-2. Karim put Pak PWD ahead in the 39th minute which was neturalized by Ziaur Rahman two minutes later for CDGK. But within two minutes Mohammad Jan scored a goal enabling Pak PWD to regain the lead.

Shah Nawaz virtually made sure of Pak PWD victory with a superb strike in the 75th minute only to see Sajid Bahadur pulled one back for the losers in the 88th minute.

After Wednesday’s results Pak PWD topped Group One with six points on goal difference from Navy who too have the same number of points.

KESC lead group B having collected maxium six points from two matches.
