SUKKUR, June 15: The first judicial magistrate of Sukkur on Wednesday raided the Site police station and recovered four persons, including the son of SNP leader Muneer Ahmed Shaikh, who had been kept in illegal confinement for the last seven days. Feroz Ahmed, a cousin of Sameer Ahmed Shaikh, 14, filed a petition in the district and sessions court, Sukkur, stating that seven days ago a police party had raided the house of Muneer Ahmed Shaikh, the SNP leader, and arrested his son Sameer. The police had kept him in illegal confinement during the last seven days.

Police had declined to disclose his whereabouts, the petitioner said. The district and session judge ordered the judicial magistrate to raid the police station and recover Sameer.

During the raid, Sameer as well as three other persons were found to be kept in illegal confinement. There was nothing on record against them. The other three recovered were Sain Dino, Shabbir Ahmed and Sher Ali Shar.

The magistrate seized the record of the police station and ordered the SHO to appear before the court on Thursday.

WATER SUPPLY: Water supply to some 21 colonies of Old Sukkur and New Pind was restored on Wednesday after the damaged 20-inch diameter main water pipeline was damaged.

The pipeline had burst four days ago.

Engineer (water works) said that the delay in the repairs was caused due to the non-availability of pipe in Sukkur.
