THATTA, June 14: The Makli police have registered a case against two medical officers and a dispenser of the Makli Civil Hospital for their alleged negligence resulting in the death of a patient on Monday. Fayaz Halepoto in his FIR stated that he brought his wife, Shahzadi, to the hospital in unconscious condition on Monday night but doctors at the casualty department did not pay proper attention to her. He alleged that negligence of Dr Akhtar Shaikh, Dr Dildar and a dispenser resulted in the death of her wife.
Enraged relatives, carrying the body, staged a sit-in on the National Highway for one hour.
Syed Riaz Hussain Shah Shirazi, son of the adviser to the Sindh chief minister, Syed Aijaz Ali Shah Shirazi, who was passing by, also joined the protesters after which police registered the FIR.

POLITICIAN DIES: Raees Shahnawaz Laghari, 76, a local politician affiliated with the PML, died of cardiac arrest in his native village Churetani here on Tuesday.
PPP MEETING: A general body meeting of the PPP women wing on Monday called for removal of the name of Mukhtaran Mai from the Exit Control List and withdrawal of fictitious cases against party activists.
MPA Humera Alwani presided over the meeting.
Rabia Palijo, Gul Bano Khatti, Aamnat Ramzan and Lakhi Naz Baloch spoke on the occasion.
The meeting discussed the names of candidates to be fielded for the district nazim in the next local bodies’ elections.
The meeting criticized issuing of CNICs to aliens illegally staying in Pakistan and said their regularization would convert the Sindhis into a minority.
A number of committees were formed to achieve the target of women membership before the elections.
The meeting announced to stage a sit-in on June 18 on the National Highway in Thatta to lodge its protest against lawlessness, registration of fake cases against party activists and discrimination against women.
