Arrest of journalist condemned

SHEIKHUPURA, June 14: Punjab Correspondent Union has demanded immediate release of an editor of a fortnightly newspaper, Faisal Javaid, who has allegedly been detained by Race Course police, Lahore.

Talking to journalists, Punjab Correspondent Union chairman Syed Kausar Javaid Bajnori said his son Faisal was booked in false and fabricated cases on the behest of some politician of the district by the Race Course police in Lahore. Later, he was implicated in a case under section 506 of the Telegraph Act by the police.

He demanded the apex court, high courts, president, prime minister and Punjab police IG to order enquiries into the matter. — Correspondent
