Four die in road accident

DARRA ADAMKHEL, June 14: Four people were killed in a head-on collision between a car and a trailer near Thandi Kallay on the approach road to the Friendship Tunnel here on Tuesday. The car (LXO-534) was going from Kohat to Peshawar when it collided with the trailer (GLTA-5358) at a sharp turning near the tunnel, killing all the four men in the car on the spot.

The victims were identified as Majid Khan, resident of Umerzai, Charsadda, Fazal Hanan and Yousaf, residents of Tangi, Charsadda, and Waseem Khan, resident of Haider Colony, Ganj, Peshawar.

The bodies of the victims were recovered from the car wreckage after one hour.

Officials of the Friendship Tunnel and political administration reached the site soon after the accident and shifted the bodies to a local hospital.

Witnesses said that a number of people have been killed in accidents at this turning near the tunnel since its opening for traffic in 2003.
