Seven-year-old girl succumbs to injuries sustained from stray bullet in Karachi

A seven-year-old girl who had sustained bullet wounds on the premises of a private school in Karachi's Saeedabad area on Friday passed away during treatment today, according to police officials.

The girl was playing in the school's playground with other children when a bullet fired from an unknown direction pierced her shoulder, said Saeedabad SHO Arz Mohammed.

She was initially taken to Dr Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital Karachi but was later on shifted to National Institute of Child-Health Care, where she succumbed to her injuries during treatment on Sunday, added the officer.

The body was handed over to the girl's relatives after fulfilling legal formalities.

SHO Mohammed said that the police have registered a murder case against unknown suspects on the complaint of the victim’s father.

The police officer further said that an investigation is under way to determine where the bullet was fired from.

Where is school wall. Find the murderer and put him through ATC and give justice within a month. PTI must concentrate on police quickly. The CM should resign, he was useless last time and he is useless now, he will be useless in future.

Which era are you people living in? Why the hell the bullets are fire in the air. License are to be cancelled immediately and the person should be brought to justice. Hell, they have no idea that this bullet fired in the air might hit somebody. Police inquiry must be impartial and should not have any political impression. No new license should be issued unless genuine reason of the life threat and all the licenses should be cancelled that have no genuine life threat. If everyone keeps the weapons why there is a law and enforcement agencies? Poor child, had no idea that she died because of some idiots nonsense act.

As a layman, I have unanswered question. The bullet had gone into her shoulder and she was alive for two days after that. She remained in a hospital. So she wouldn't have died because of excessive loss of blood. It was a shoulder injury ,not a vital organ direct injury. How come the doctors could not manage the situation. On the face of it , it could be due to neglect, lack of medical resources or simple incompetency. The matter needs to be investigated and not pushed under the carpet of secrecy.

What ever is happening in Urban Sindh is due to the complete failure of LEAs as they have failed miserably to protect residents of Urban Sindh. It looks like LEAs are more interested in extra curricular activities rather than protecting common citizens.
