PESHAWAR: German Ambassador to Pakistan Martin Kobler on Saturday paid a visit to Paraplegic Centre Peshawar on an invitation by the Friends of Paraplegics, a local NGO striving for rights of people with physical impairments.

A statement issued here said a little girl with spinal cord injuries presented Mr Kobler with a bouquet of flowers. Mr Kobler and his delegation were briefed by the CEO of the centre Dr Syed Mohammad Ilyas regarding the history, style and services of the centre.

Mr Kobler took keen interest in the centre’s activities and appreciated the services provided to the destitute people across Pakistan as well as Afghanistan.

The German envoy was surprised to know that the centre had the honour to have treated and rehabilitated more than 9,000 people with severe spinal cord injuries.

Mr Kobler was also informed that the centre in collaboration with the ICRC had recently embarked upon another unique programme where children with idiopathic club feet were treated.

Mr Kobler met the staff and patients and showed his willingness to extend every possible support to the centre.
