KARACHI, June 14: Justice Gulzar Ahmed of the Sindh High Court ordered attachment before judgment of a truck allegedly involved in the killing of a man and his son. Ms Mehrunnisa Alavi stated in an urgent application that a rashly-driven private truck run over and killed her husband, Ghulam Mustafa Alavi, and son, Zeeshan Alavi, in SITE area on March 22, 2004. She has instituted a suit for recovery of Rs 4 million in damages against the two joint owners and the drivers of the offending truck.

Advocates Nasir and Aamir Maqsood, appearing for the plaintiff, submitted that the owners were trying to dispose of vehicle to avoid liability and defeat realization of a prospective decree. The judge ordered the SITE SHO to impound the truck (No JT-2134) and keep it at the police station and submit compliance report within two weeks. Excise and taxation department’s vehicle registration wing was asked not to execute any transfer of the offending vehicle till further order.
