R&D support

KARACHI, June 14: The Pakistan Leather Garments Manufacturers and Exporters Association (PLGMEA) has urged the government to give six per cent Research and Development (R&D) support to the leather garment and goods exporters.

PLGMEA Chairman Fawad Ijaz Khan in a statement issued here on Tuesday said that the leather garment exporters were facing tough competition from China, which is dumping world markets with low cost and traditional leather garments.

In order to survive in the world markets, aggressive research and development was needed to be taken by Pakistani exporters in areas of information collection, modernization of garment designing, use of new and better imported accessories.
