THE US has been imposing economic sanctions on Chinese goods which will have a negative impact on supply in the Chinese market. This will also harm the economic growth, cash flow between the two countries and share price.
Therefore, it is an opportunity for Pakistan to catch a large share of Chinese market by offering agriculture-based commodities to them in order to meet China’s increasing demand for these products and earn foreign earning.
This goal cannot be achieved unless Pakistan takes consolidated and concrete steps.
First, modern and technology-based harvesting, sowing tools and equipments should be introduced to the agriculture sector in order to increase productivity.
Seeds, pesticides and fertilisers should be offered at low rates to farmers to encourage them to cultivate more crops. An uninterrupted supply of irrigation water should be also ensured.
