KARACHI, June 13: About 64,000 candidates will appear in the HSC Humanities (regular and private) annual examinations, 2005, commencing on June 15. The controller of examinations of the Board of Intermediate Education, Karachi, Prof Mohammad Amin Khalid, told Dawn on Monday that as many as 29,311 candidates had been registered for part-I exams, while 34,615 for part-II exams.

He said that in all 88, including 61 for woman candidates, centres were being set up at colleges and higher secondary schools. Examinations would be held in the afternoon shift.

The examination controller said that as usual vigilance teams and super vigilance teams would be installed to oversee the conduct of exams. As many as four centres have been listed as sensitive centres, he added.

In addition to the Humanities group examinations, exams of special candidates and those registered for Diploma in Physical Education (DPE) would also be held in the second phase of exams, commencing on June 15.

In all 89 boys and 61 girls have been registered for special candidates’ HSC examination, while number of DPE examination candidates will be 23.

The breakdown of candidates taking the Humanities group examination is as follows: Regular-Male; part-I 2,213 and part II 1,360, Female; part-I 14,812 and part-II 13,396. Private-Male; part-I 4,337 and part-II 8,134, Female; part-I 7,855 and part-II 11,640.

In the meantime, the board received about 400 forms from leftover HSC (Humanities) candidates on Monday, as special case, said a source in the board.
