NAROWAL: A nursery student was hospitalised with injuries after his schoolteacher clubbed and slapped him on Saturday.

Reports said labourer Azam’s four-year-old son Mateen was playing with his class fellows at the Government Chan Pir Elementary School, Mohallah Chokhandi, when his teacher Qaiser Usman forbade him from doing so. Mateen wept bitterly and the teacher slapped and clubbed him as a punishment.

The child was injured and had to be taken to hospital. His parents reached the school and protested against the teacher who escaped after seeing the child in a serious condition.

Headmaster Zahid declined to respond to the media queries.

DC Zeeshan Javaid directed District Education Authority CEO Dr Abdullah Waheed Raza to conduct an inquiry and submit a report.
