All-round display by Irfan

KARACHI, June 11: A fine all-round performance by Irfanullah helped Sui Southern Gas Corporation (SSGC) reach final of the 14th KCCA Inter-departmental cricket tournament with a 23-run win over Dewan Farooq Motors at the KCCA Stadium on Friday.

Batting first, SSGC made 271 for seven in their 50 overs. Ashraf Ali scored 84 with nine boundaries while Mohammad Zafar (45) and Irfanullah (41) made useful contributions.

Slow left-armer Adnan Kalim grabbed three for 43.

Dewan Farooq Motors made a valiant attempt to reach a target of 272, but were all out for 248 in 48 overs. Mansoor Baig (60, six fours), Shahid Latif (42) and Shahid Qambrani (38) were the chief run-getters.

Man-of-the-Match Irfanullah was wrecker-in-chief as he captured five for 24 with his off-spinners. He received excellent support from slow left-armer Sohail Mehdi, who claimed three for 40.

SSGC will face DHA Blues in the final at a later date.
