Universities celebrate Defence Day

Many universities in Islamabad celebrated Defence Day. National University of Modern Languages students and faculty members visited the graves of six martyrs across Islamabad and Rawalpindi in various groups. They offered prayers, laid floral wreaths on the graves and visited the families of martyred soldiers.

Comsats hosted a peace walk in remembrance of the sacrifices rendered by martyred soldiers and started the second phase of its Adopt a Tree initiative in which 1,500 trees were planted.

Allama Iqbal Open University hosted a discussion on Defence Day which was also attended by retired Air Chief Marshal Sohail Aman. The event was also attended by retired Lt Gen Amjad Shohaid, eminent writer Iftikhar Arif, Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Shahid Siddiqui and families of martyred soldiers.

The parents of martyred Major Pervaiz Saddique, who was awarded the Tamgha-i-Basalat for sacrificing his life for the nation, were attending as well.
