Nasir guides WZ Blues to victory

LAHORE, June 11: An unbeaten century by skipper Nasir Jamshed enabled West Zone Blues to beat East Zone Blues by eight wickets in the PCB Inter-district under-19 cricket championship at the Mughalpura Institute ground on Saturday.

Nasir hammered 16 fours and one six in making 124 off 102 balls as West Zone Blues romped home by scoring 242 for two in 39.4 overs.

An undefeated Ahmed Butt contributed 73 to guide East Zone Whites to a six-wicket win over North Zone Blues at the Model Town Club ground.

In another low-scoring match, North Zone Whites defeated West Zone Whites by five wickets at the Model Town Greens ground.

At Model Town Club ground: East Zone Whites beat North Zone Blues by six wickets.

NORTH ZONE BLUES 174 in 49.1 overs (Imran Ali 29, Inayatullah 24; Kaleem Mazhar 5-54, Usman Malik 3-48); EAST ZONE WHITES 178-4 in 33.1 overs (Ahmed Butt 73, Waqas Ahmed 32; Mujahid Ali 3-59).

NOWSHERA TRIUMPH

PESHAWAR: Fine batting by Adnan Khan and Mohammad Ijaz guided Nowshera to a 62-run victory against Northern Areas in the PCB Inter-district under-19 cricket championship match at the University Campus ground on Saturday, adds APP.

Adnan blasted a 90-ball 83 with 12 fours while Ijaz hit 74 off 80 balls with 11 boundaries as Nowshera reached 274 in 55.4 overs.

Earlier, Khizer Hayat slammed 11 fours in scoring 59. For Northern Areas, off-spinners Masood Ahmed and Nadeem Ahmed took three wickets each for 55 and 69 runs, respectively.

Northern Areas in their turn were all out for 212 in 65.2 overs despite Masood Ahmed contributing a solid 70 off 128 balls with the help of eight fours.
