Three bandits arrested

DADU, June 11: Three alleged bandits were arrested in two different incidents after brief shootouts with the police here on Saturday. The DPO, operation, Mr Rukhsar Ahmed Khuhawar, told newsmen that police got information that the gang of Yamin Jamali had blocked the road leading to BHP gas field in the Allah Bachayo Village near Johi after snatching a motorcycle from Zulfiqar Jamali and was about to take over a gas tanker of the Australian-based company, BHP.

A strong contingent of police , led by SHO Johi, Inspector Javed Ahmed Tunio, reached the spot and after a brief encounter arrested Yamin Jamali and his accomplice Soomar Jamali. A rifle and a gun, besides 30 bullets, 11 cartridges and one snatched motorcycle was also recovered from their possession.

The DPO said that the arrested bandits were wanted in different cases registered at the Johi, Khairpur Nathan Shah, Jhallo, Mehar and Aminiani police stations since 1990.

In another incident, Fida Hussain alias Fiddu Wadho, an alleged bandit, was arrested after an encounter with a police party led by in-charge Radhan police post, ASI Bakhshal Mallah near Mari road.

A single-barrel gun and 12 magazines were also recovered from his possession.

The DPO claimed that the arrested bandit was wanted in 30 cases registered at different police stations of Sindh.

He said that promotions for the police party that took part in the encounters, had been recommended.

DEMO: Activists of Sindh Taraqqi Passand Party and Sindhi Hari Sangat observed a token hunger strike outside the local press club against issuance of CNICs to aliens, here.

They said Sindhis were being converted into minority by issuing CNICs to Biharis and Bengalis.
