KARACHI, June 11: The All Parties Hurriyet Conference (APHC) left Karachi for Islamabad on Saturday, describing their visit a success and path breaking. Talking to newsmen before leaving, the chairman of APHC, Mir Waiz Umar Farooq, said the visit had given a boost to the ongoing peace process aimed at resolving the Kashmir issue.
He was of the view that in future more such interactions would take place and encourage more intra-Kashmir dialogue.
Mr Farooq reiterated that the Kashmiris must be included in the dialogue process because they were the principal stakeholders.
Earlier another APHC leader Professor Abdul Ghani Bhatt said that although the current initiative was a positive development in the peace process, there would be many hurdles before the process led to a final settlement.
He was confident that despite difficulties the process would reach its logical conclusion.
He was of the view that as both India and Pakistan had become nuclear powers they could not afford another war on Kashmir. They must find a negotiated settlement, he said.
MEET MQM TEAM: A delegation of the MQM led by its deputy convenor, Dr Farooq Sattar, met the APHC delegation on Friday night.
During the meeting with Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Prof Abdul Ghani Bhatt and others, the ongoing peace process for finding a solution to the Kashmir problem and other matters were discussed.
Mirwaiz thanked Altaf Hussain for the support and said that a strong Pakistan was essential for lasting peace in Kashmir.
