LAHORE, June 10: An Indian passenger plane strayed into Pakistan, north of Lahore, last week, Dawn learnt on Friday.

Sources said the Delhi-Amritsar flight, Sahara-151, entered 30km to 40km into Pakistani space because of bad weather.

They said the air traffic control wing of the Civil Aviation Authority contacted the Delhi air control office, which was unaware of the violation, and apprised it of the situation.

The sources claimed that two Pakistan Air Force aircraft had scrambled the Indian plane, however, the CAA authorities concerned did not confirm it.

A CAA official said that since the countries had been enjoying cordial relations such incidents were given little importance.
