LAHORE, June 10: The Jamaat-i-Islami demonstrated outside the Lahore Press Club on Friday to condemn the recent killings in Karachi and sacrilege of the Holy Quran at Guantanamo Bay.
Amirul Azeem, Dr Mahmood Rana and Sheikh Mohammad Amin led the protest. The participants were carrying placards and banners in support of their demands.
According to a press release, Friday was observed as a protest day across the country. The call for the purpose had been given by the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal.
Amirul Azeem demanded that the Sindh chief minister should stop protecting the alleged killers of JI leader Aslam Mujahid. He said the government should also take steps to rid the people of what he called terrorists and extortionists.
The Tehrik Hurmat-i-Quran also observed Friday as a protest day. A protest meeting was held at the Markaz-i-Alqadsia, condemning those responsible for the desecration of the sacred book.
