BADIN, June 10: About 2,000 employees of the irrigation department observed a pen-down strike on Friday in protest against what they called harsh attitude of the director of the Left Bank Canal.

No measurement of water gauges was carried out and the water level of canals was reported as “not recorded”.

Protest demonstrations were held out at the Matli regulator, Imam Wah and Badin and Talhar against the director.

Speaking on the occasion, union leaders Ghani Lashari and Jan Mohammad Keerio said the director had used harsh and abusive language against Tandel (operator) of the Imam Wah regulator.

They warned if the director was not transferred, they would continue their protest.

PROTEST: Farmers of Behro minor and Tando Ghulam Ali Shakh took out a procession and staged a sit-in on the ninth consecutive day on Friday in protest against shortage of irrigation water.
