SUKKUR: The New Pind police of Sukkur on Tuesday produced in court one of the two suspects who had allegedly thrown acid on a woman in a property dispute a few days back.

They said Gul Hassan aka Gullu Mahar along with Mir Hassan Mahar had thrown acid on Kiran Mahar at her house in Islam Colony over her refusal to come to their terms in a property dispute.

Both suspects had escaped after committing the crime, they said, adding that Mir Hassan Mahar was arrested and his three-day remand in police custody was obtained on Tuesday.

Kiran was rushed to the Sukkur Civil Hospital but was then referred to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre in Karachi due to her serious condition.

Sukkur SSP Asad Raza said that the matter was being investigated from different angles.

A hunt for Gullu Mahar was on, he said, adding that he would be arrested soon.

The police have already recorded statements of Kiran’s parents.
