Army humble holders Navy

KARACHI, Jan 9: Pakistan Army putting behind their unexpected defeat against PAF Tuesday, downed holders Pakistan Navy 2-1 on the third day of Inter Services football championship at Navy Sports Complex Ground, Karsaz, Wednesday.

All the goals of the match coming in the first period. Jaffer Hussain and Ghulam Ali slammed the goals for Army while Muhammad Basharat netted the lone goal for Navy.

All the participating teams have three points each at the end of first leg in double league event which conclude on Jan 12.

Jaffer Hussain gave army an early lead when volleyed home the opening goal soon after kick-off on a cross from Ehsanullah.

However just after 13 minutes, Muhammad Basharat struck for Navy to level the score. He collected a neat pass from Tahir and crashed the the ball into the goal with a powerful 35-meter strike.

Ghulam Ali produced the match winner just before the first half whistle with a 30-meter shot which gave Navy goalkeeper no chance.

Navy will clash PAF in the second round tie Thursday at 2.30 P.M.—APP
