LAHORE: Police claimed on Sunday to have arrested former inspector Abid Hussain alias Abid Boxer and four others for creating disturbance at a public place.

Abid Boxer was called for investigation by the Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) police, Nawankot, for his alleged involvement in the murder of Jawad Firdosi in 2017. He was in Dubai when cable operator Firdosi was killed in Samanabad.

His younger brother Irfat Aslam alleged that Abid Boxer had ordered the killing of his brother and a case was registered against him.

Abid Boxer fled the country 11 years ago and was wanted in cases of dozens of extrajudicial killings. He was later arrested in Dubai through Interpol. He was granted pre-arrest interim bails by the district and sessions court in 10 criminal cases registered against him at various police stations of Lahore.

The suspect was called for investigation in the Nawankot CIA police office where the complainant of the case was also present. Abid Boxer and the complainant went into argument and a scuffle broke out between them.

Police later arrested Abid Boxer and his two accomplices and complainant Irfat Aslam and his accomplice Adeel and registered a case against them under sections 147 and 151 of the Pakistan Penal Code for causing disturbance at a public place.

A senior police officer said it was a bailable offence and both parties could get bail from court on Monday.
