KGA triumph

KARACHI, Jan 9: KGA Gymkhana moved a step closer to the knockout stage in the Super Six Cup League tournament, after registering nine-wicket victory over Bright Gymkhana at the KGA ground.

Batting first Bright Gymkhana were restricted to 160 for five wickets in their 30 allowed overs. Fahad Jabbar top scored with 49 runs, with Zahooruddin chipping in with 30 and Sohail Fazal 19. Patrick Deniz finished with two for 32.

Chasing 161 runs for victory KGA Gymkhana got off to a marvellous start when Rajesh Ramesh and Jonathan Rodrigues put on 81 runs for the opening wicket before Rajesh parted company after scoring 41 runs.

Sham Ramesh joined Jonathan and this pair took KGA to victory at 161 for one in 18.4 overs without being separated. Jonathan slammed 10 boundaries and two sixes in his unbeaten 78, and Sham weighed in with 36 n.o.
