ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Peoples Party’s leader Raza Rabbani has submitted to the Senate Secretariat a resolution urging the federal government to lay before parliament all financial agreements signed during the past four years.

He also asked for details of the agreements signed with the International Monetary Fund and those related to the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor. The resolution states: “This House calls upon the federal government to lay in parliament all financial agreements entered into by the government of Pakistan during the past four years, including the agreements with the IMF and [on] CPEC.”

The PPP senator also submitted an adjournment motion to discuss Pakistan-US relationship in the light of the developments commencing with the statement of the US secretary of state on Aug 1 this year.

Mr Rabbani had last week also submitted a bill to the Senate Secretariat, making it binding upon the government to place agreements and contracts with foreign countries, donors and international monetary organisations before parliament for ratification.

Through the bill titled “Ratification of Foreign Agreements by Parliament Bill 2018”, he called upon the government to place a foreign agreement, contract or protocol to be signed with any country before both houses of parliament to seek approval of its draft within 15 days of its finalisation.
