Published June 8, 2005

LAHORE, June 7: Pakistan Baseball Federation, secretary Syed Khawar Shah, has been elected as an executive committee member of the Asian body in the elections held in Switzerland on Sunday. Mr Khawer received 13 votes out of total 19 and defeated a rival candidate from Thailand.

Pakistan’s supported candidate Lee Nae Heun of South Korea was also elected as president of the Baseball Federation of Asia with a difference of only one vote 10-9.

Meanwhile, the newly elected body also decided Pakistan will host the next Asia Cup at Islamabad in April 2006.

Pakistan had already been allotted the event in 2003 but various teams refused to play here due to security concerns.
