SUKKUR, June 7: Parting ways with the Mahars of Ghotki, a prominent figure of the Sundrani tribe, Mr Ehsan Sundrani, joined People’s Party Parliamentarian, PPP, at a public meeting held in Fateh Pur, Ghotki on Tuesday. Sundrani had been a close aide to former Sindh Chief Minister Ali Mohammad Mahar and the District Nazim Ghotki, Sardar Ali Gohar Mahar, and his dissociation is an indication that the Mahar group was gradually losing grip over the political arena of the district, sources said.

Addressing the meeting, Syed Qaim Ali Shah said that those who had earlier had left the PPP and joined hands with the Mahars, after induction of Ali Mohammad Mahar as Sindh chief minister, would again come into the fold of the PPP.

He said his party would strongly oppose bifurcation of district Ghotki, “as we see the move as politically motivated.”

Terming the present government a failure, he said the government had given the deteriorating law and order situation, price hike, unemployment and other social evils as gifts to the people.

Others who addressed the meeting included Ahmed Ali Pitafi, Ghulam Mustafa Bozdar, Syed Nadir Shah, Jam Saifullah Dharejo, Dr Mehtab Dahar, Mian Mithoo and others.
