NAWABSHAH, June 7: Sindh Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim has said DCOs will replace nazims as district administrators after announcement of the schedule of the local bodies’ election this month. He was talking to journalists at a lunch hosted by Syed Shaukat Hussain Shah and Syed Amjad Hyder Shah in the Khair Shah village here on Tuesday.
He said the Pakistan Muslim League and its allies would contest the polls. He hoped that the PML would win the seat of the Nawabshah district nazim.
The chief minister said his government had lifted the ban on recruitment and added that candidates would have to appear in tests for jobs.
He said construction of the Nawabshah-Kumb link road was in progress. He said the Sindh government would provide relief to people. He said action would be taken against corrupt people without discrimination.
Dr Rahim had arrived at the Nawabshah airport on Monday evening and spoken at public gatherings in Daulatpur, Qazi Ahmad, Khaddar and Sabu Rahu.
On Tuesday, he visited the zonal office of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement, residence of Nawabshah PML general secretary Syed G. M. Shah, Syed Ahmad Shah Lakyari house and the Jan Muhammad Brohi village. He also offered condolence on the death of mother of Balochistan chief secretary K.B. Rind.
The chief minister announced a grant of Rs50 million for development works of the Nawabshah district.
He announced to upgrade Daulatpur and Qazi Ahmad intermediate colleges to degree colleges and the Shahpur Jehanian School to a high school.
He also announced remodelling of Malwah, Lundki and Daulatpur minors, installation of water filtration plants in the city, construction of a cultural centre and a sports complex, establishment of a girls’ primary school and an intermediate college, affiliation of the Sakrand Taluka Hospital with the People’s Medical College Hospital, three dialysis units for the PMCH, one MRI machine for the PMCH and one fire brigade for Sakrand.
Dr Rahim also changed the name of the People’s Medical College for Girls to the Nawabshah Medical College for Girls.
