HYDERABAD, June 7: Activists of over 20 NGOs under the banner of the Joint Action Committee for People’s Rights observed a token hunger strike outside the press club here on Tuesday to protest against registration of what they called false cases against veteran human rights activist Comrade Jam Saqi and the arrest of his wife.
The NGOs included the HRCP, Indus Development Organization, Sindh Rural Development Society, Sindh Awami Forum, Bhandar Hari Sangat and Maru Social Development Organization.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Khalil Qazi, Zain Daudpoto, Wahab Pandhrani, Ali Hassan Jatoi and Ilyas Khokhar condemned registration of false cases against Comrade Jam Saqi and the arrest of his wife.
They demanded that the cases against Jam Saqi should be withdrawn and his wife should be released failing which the Joint Action Committee would not give up struggle.
DEMONSTRATION: Veterinary graduates held a demonstration under the banner of the Sindh Veterinary Graduates Forum outside the press club here on Tuesday, demanding jobs.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Ghazanfar Sehto, Dr Atta Mohammad Memon, Dr Ubedullah Kaka and others claimed that no veterinary doctor had been recruited for eight years.
They appealed to the Sindh chief minister to provide jobs to veterinary graduates.
