RAWALPINDI: The Rawalpindi Arts Council (RAC) on Wednesday held a walk in connection with Independence Day titled Salam Pakistan.

The walk was led by RAC Director Waqar Ahmed with artists, government officials, students and citizens from all walks of life participating. The walk started from RAC and culminated at Murree Road, after passing through Stadium Road and Nawaz Sharif Park.

Participants chanted slogans including “Pakistan Zindabad” and “Quaid-i-Azam Zindabad” and carried flags. They were followed by a musical band.

Mr Ahmed said RAC has decided to celebrate Independence Day with events throughout August in order to raise awareness among the new generation of the importance of independence and the various aspects of the Pakistan Movement.

Special prayers were also offered for the progress of the country, peace and national solidarity.
